Featured Machine Quilting Classes 2012

Freeform, Threadpainted, Trapunto Collaged Wall Quilt Party

ANY theme, not just horses, I'll bring lots of choices!

Prerequisite    For anyone who can make a  stand up quilting machine sew.

Yes it’s a play date.  This all-new class is the genuine article.  You will leave with a complete piece of wall art, unlike any other in class or in any gallery.  Learn to use continuous-line books to source your imagery, paint with slippery thread, lay washaway stabilizers as transfer and goofproofing mediums, select from various nonwovens for collaging your awesome imagery and finally you’ll learn fabulous stitches to stipple your way to trapunto heaven before you border and bind the final piece…all on the longarm of course.  All of these techniques can be used in the normal quilting of a normal quilt (whatever that is) using any machine you own at home.  You will choose from dozens of possible imagery designs to launch your unique art piece.  Your first handout will be the snack and goodie bowl, so come prepared to PLAY. Everyone will leave in delight, if you come ready for fun.

Materials fee: $7.00  cash or checks acceptable.

Supply list for participants to bring:

Small scissors, not too pointy, for cutting thread and other stuff, SHARPIE fat “fine tip” pen (black), possible animal silhouette ideas, landscape silhouette ideas, or abstract silhouette ideas that you would want to use instead of something the teacher thinks to provide you with.

Time Flies – so you should too

Prerequisite    Raw longarm beginners will be left in the dust, better for intermediate and experienced quilters.

This is a freehand design triple-header.  A great class for you who already know the basics of longarm quilting (okay, so you learned in a class this week) and are ready for custom designs that move quickly across a quilt, also perfect for you computerized-quilters who are ready to loosen your belts and fly.

Quilt the Baptist fan in a bundle of forms – overall, gridded, sashings and braided borders.

Quilt the Orange Peel and many of its design Pals, and learn to design endless variations.

Quilt a collection of overall meanderings with integrated imagery to suit the quilt. If you bring a top to design from, we can all use it to design our own meanderings to suit it (you won’t quilt it in class, that will be just for design discussion).

Materials fee: $10.00  cash or checks acceptable.

Supply list for participants to bring:

Small scissors, not too pointy, for cutting thread and other stuff, sketchpaper and pencil or pen.  Bring a camera so you can photograph the tops you will design patterns for.
